The results are impressive and dispel the common perception that composite cannot be as strong as a concrete post.

“The concrete post cracked at the highest moment causing the reinforced steel to accept the load. The non-recovery of the post suggests that the steel in fact yielded and could not therefore recover its initial position rendering the post non-serviceable. The Supalite post deflected the same amount but the steel insert was not subject to a load in excess of its yield and was therefore able to recover to a serviceable position, it follows therefore that Supalite posts possess a significant tensile strength that concrete posts do not.”  Stephen Barker, I.Eng.
